One of the things that has been hugely affected by the Coronavirus pandemic are the antenatal classes that are so essential to a Mum-2-be’s health and well being. Social Distancing is important, so we need to work with it, and find ways of connecting with others, while staying safe.
As you know my studio is closed and I find myself in a position where I am really missing lots of things about my job. The main thing I am missing is the people who walk through my door! The smiles, the adoration of their new baby, their pregnancy and birth stories and in 6 years I’ve NEVER tired of this, it gives me a real buzz! I was also acutely aware that being pregnant, giving birth and living with a new baby at home, during lockdown, is extremely scary. So I decided I wanted to help.
I love setting up the studio for a session, making the room toasty warm and choosing the props and colour scheme while waiting with anticipation to meet this incredible new little person! But I am aware that from a parents point of view it can seem a little daunting and you might feel a little apprehensive especially as it might be the first time you’ve left the house with your baby. My daughter was born in 1992. Just to reflect on that for a moment… that was BEFORE THE INTERNET!! I know many of you won’t even understand what on earth I’m talking about but we got our information from newspapers, noticeboards in shop windows or just from chatting in the queue at supermarkets.
